Tractive provides two specialized pet trackers for dogs and cats, priced at $49.99 each, excluding any extra membership charges. Both trackers possess IPX7 waterproof capability, shock resistance, and can last up to a week on a single charge. When it comes to smaller dogs, Tractive’s tracker is a superior option compared to the Fi Smart Dog Collar Series 2. Tractive’s tracker is suitable for dogs weighing at least 8.8 pounds, whereas the Fi collar requires a minimum weight of 10 pounds.
Tractive offers Basic and Premium subscription packages. The Basic plan has monthly prices of $12, annual expenditures of $84 or two years’ worth of $120. The cost of the Premium plan is $96 yearly, $144 for two years, or $300 annually. Both packages include limitless GPS tracking, live tracking with updates every two to three seconds, as well as activity and sleep tracking. A year’s worth of location history, GPS data exports, family and public sharing, global coverage across 175 countries, and improved customer service are additional advantages for premium subscribers. Fi’s subscription package, which costs $99 a year, is less expensive in contrast.
Dog owners can simultaneously track the locations of several pets using Tractive’s GPS software. However, a separate tracker and subscription are needed for each pet. The program contains tabs for Map, History, Activity, Profile, and Account on its user-friendly layout. Owners may locate their dogs, enable the Live and Find modes, check the tracker’s battery life and GPS signal, and modify map settings on the Map tab, which is the main screen.
When the tracker is in use, the tracking feature is always active. The map shows the pet’s position as well as the time and date of the most recent update. Depending on the pet’s mobility, the tracker has pre-set location update intervals of two to sixty minutes. When the pet is motionless, the tracker lowers its update frequency to preserve battery life.
When a pet goes missing, the Live mode is very helpful for real-time tracking. The Tractive tracker transmits the pet’s GPS location every few seconds by pressing the blue Live button. On the map, this movement is denoted by a blue line. The battery drains more quickly in Live mode than it does in the default tracking mode, it should be noted. Live monitoring automatically shuts off after five minutes to conserve battery power, but users can change this time restriction in the Profile page.
When a weak GPS signal compromises position accuracy, the Find option is helpful. Above the Live button, a pet icon appears when the tracker is within Bluetooth range. When you tap on this icon, the pet’s profile photo is surrounded by a blue bullseye. The rings of the bullseye frequently become blue as the user gets closer to the animal. To help in rapidly finding the animal, the tracker also has a tiny LED light and an audio alarm.
