Qwest, now known as CenturyLink, is a cable, Internet and home phone provider operating in multiple states. Companies in this business sector typically offer customers cheap services in exchange for a contract. At some point during that contract, the price of the service jumps to the normal price and customers are shocked by the difference. Cancelling your Qwest contract is not easy. These contracts are put in place to ensure Qwest either keeps the customer for the length of the contract or gets paid if the customer chooses to leave.

Is There An Early Termination Fee?

If you signed a contract or accepted an agreement to maintain service for a promotional price deal, you will need to pay an early termination fee. The early termination fee you are required to pay will depend on what services you have with Qwest.

For high-speed Internet services customers are required to pay the monthly fee multiplied by the number of months left on the contract. The maximum early termination fee is $200.

All other services provided with contract, ranging from six months to two years, carries an early termination fee between $99 and $200. If there is equipment associated with the service, as is the case with high-speed Internet and cable services, you will be charged additional fees if the equipment is not returned on-time or is damaged upon return.

Early Cancellation Policy

For some Qwest products there is a 30-day cancellation policy. If you don’t like the service within the first 30 days, you can request the service be cancelled without an early termination fee. There are some instances when an early termination fee will be waived, including moving to a new address where Qwest service is not available.
